apologies to all for not having updated the site and forum with new info....both joel and myself have been immersed in our other projects but we're heading into a Scrapclub month - a run of 3 SC's lined up in November in 3 different cities....

5th November 2009 : as part of the ScART platform, to be held at the huge NDSM docklands space in Amsterdam, Holland....more info here : http://www.hristov.nl/scart/

14th November 2009 : as part of the Wunderbar Festival in Newcastle, UK - a new festival of contemporary performances, visual art and happenings....more info here : http://www.wunderbarfestival.co.uk/programme/events/scrap-club

15th (or 16th) November 2009 (date TBC) : as part of the Panic Exhibition, London, UK....the Panic Movement (Mouvement panique) was a collective formed by Fernando Arrabal, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Roland Topor in Paris, France in 1962. Inspired by and named after the god Pan, and influenced by Luis Buñuel and Antonin Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty, the group concentrated on chaotic happenings containing performance art and surreal imagery, designed to be shocking, as a response to surrealism becoming petite bourgeoisie and to release destructive energies in search of peace and beauty...more info here : http://www.guerrillazoo.com/panic-exhibition/

we've had our fill of destroying pianos at Scrapclub....both joel and i feel as though we have gone as far as we need to in exploring the feelings piano destruction generates.....an idea being flung around between us is the possibility of attaching accelerometers to sledgehammers which will give us gestural data via OSC ie we'll know exact X/Y/Z co-ordinate data of swinging hammers which we can send to a computer via Open Sound Control http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenSound_Control which can be sent to play piano notes or piano related samples....the idea is a reclamation for the pianos destroyed by our hands....

let me know how you all feel about this as we think its an interesting evolution of the SC concept

yes indeed....date set for the 14th of feb, which apparently is valentine's day....not to say that here at Scrapclub HQ we're not the romantic types but it didn't cross our minds....so, let's get in to true romance...destroy the things you have been told to love....
